She’s an assassin, though not by choice. See, Gin Bombay is in the family business and it’s either kill, or, pffttt, be killed, so she doesn’t complain too much. Or think too much about it, either. Why should she? Gin only has to do a couple jobs a year and has a huge trust fund to live off of (as does everyone in the family).

Now, however, Gin’s well ordered life is taking a turn. There’s a surprise mandatory "family reunion" scheduled. Something that has everyone on pins and needles since "reunions" only happen every five years. Perhaps it’s because her daughter, Roma (Romi), is five now, and must go through the ritual to begin her training into the family business. Gin’s not ready for that! Surely there’s another reason for the "reunion"...

But she doesn’t have time to obsess over it. Much. She’s met a man! A HOT Australian named Diego, who happens to be a bodyguard. Her occupational polar opposite! While that relationship heats up and is cemented with lies and half-truths, Gin’s given an assignment, which she successfully carries out. Then another…what is going on? Why is she given two jobs within two weeks? Does this have something to do with the "reunion"?

Gin soon wishes she didn’t ask. There’s a mole in the family and she’s been appointed by the council to discover, alone and with mouth shut, who it is. No male family member is to be left out of the investigation.

Alone and mouth shut? They’re kidding, right? Especially as her brother’s on the list. Soon Gin and her cousin Liv are deep into the investigation. With fingers pointing one way Gin frantically digs a bit deeper hoping to redirect them. And if she didn’t have enough on her plate, problems with Diego may be looming just ahead.

Gin’s life is about to blow up and change forever, but if she has a say, it won’t be in a harp-and-trumpet-goodbye-Diego way.

At first, I really didn’t know what to think of Gin and her family, of their profession and the repercussions of not following traditions or the council’s edicts. Or for example, the blasé way Gin describes her hits and admits to a particular method as being her specialty, and the initiation of a five-year old into the business. It was a bit, well, disconcerting at times.

Conservative readers may be offended by Leslie Langtry’s foray into the fictional world of assassins, even as unique and over the top as it may be. However, the romance, action, tongue in cheek wit and sarcasm goes quite a ways to balance out the shock value.

Reading ‘Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy is a lot like rubber-necking at an accident. You’re not sure if you should keep reading, but you just can’t help yourself.
