Alex Rossi's life is dangerous and complicated. He runs the covert Intelligence Agency, the Devlin Group. He also uses the alias of Sean Devlin as bait, to track down the man who killed his mother. Above all Alex wants vengeance and he will stop at nothing to get it. Alex also utilizes the name to get information on a certain woman without her knowledge. That woman thinks Sean Devlin is her friend. She trusts him. She would be awfully mad if she found out the truth.
Grace Nolan is working hard at being the typical suburban mum. She has an eight year old son, she works from home and she even attempts her hand at cookie baking. She has carefully restructured her life to make it to fit around the needs of her son, Danny. Her previous life as a butt kicking undercover agent is not the environment for bringing up a child. However when Danny is kidnapped, her past comes roaring back to life. The one man that can help her is the last man Grace wants to see. After all, the man did shoot her and that’s kind of hard to forget.
Alex and Grace were once partners and lovers. But that was a long time ago. Violence and misunderstanding forced them apart. Kidnapping and mutual need brings them back together. However, there are a couple of problems. Firstly, Alex is unaware he is Danny's father and Grace is unaware the man she knows and trusts as the disembodied voice of Sean Devlin is in reality her ex-lover Alex, the man she has never forgiven. Both secrets threaten to tear them apart emotionally. And displays of emotion are the last thing they need when it comes to finding their son.
And is it all just a coincidence that the case Alex is working on becomes interlinked with Danny's kidnapping and the hunt for his mother's killer? It seems a lot can and does happen in 72 Hours.
I loved the character of Grace. She is a kick ass woman who is more than a match for her ex-lover Alex. She is capable and strong and I like reading about women who can hold there own in any world. And Alex, well, he is the type of character you wish was real and maybe just around the corner from where you live. He is sexy, confident and ready to save the world. The romance between them is hot, passionate and demanding. It's not easy or even stereotypically nice but it's realistic.
72 Hours is full of revenge, misunderstanding and desire – all fabulous emotions to liven up your day. If you like action heroes/heroines, smart banter and sizzling passion you must read 72 Hours .
