Attending the Midwestern Funeral Directors regional convention, death surrounds flower shop owner Abby Knight, if only in theory. Booths promoting funeral homes, clothing, music, and even make-up line the aisles. Yet when the grating and annoying event organizer, Sybil Blount, is found dead the theory becomes reality.

Even though she’s solved other crimes, Abby is content with letting the police investigate Sybil’s murder. Until her friend and funeral home owner, Delilah Dove becomes a "person of interest" in the case. In fact, the police soon decide there’s no other direction to look.

Abby is positive she knows who killed Sybil; the problem is she has to prove it. Normally that wouldn’t be such a dilemma, however there’s only a matter of hours left before the convention ends and the attendees pack it all up.

With the help of Marco (studdly boyfriend) and her two employees, Grace and Lottie, clues are gathered (by whatever means necessary), acquaintances of Sybil’s are questioned with secrets revealed, all in an effort to beat the clock.

Trouble is brewing. As it always does when Abby is following a hot trail.

In addition to favorite recurring friends and supporting characters Kate Collins has incorporated some eclectic (to say the least) characters to interact with Abby’s unique and outgoing personality. The tension between her and Marco simmers and boils throughout the book, adding another dimension to the story and series.

A Rose from the Dead has action, sexual tension, intrigue, and humor. All these elements complement each other creating a fast-paced and enjoyable read.
