Sierra Masters just needs a few minutes to adjust. After all, it’s not everyday that a girl is transported back 125 years in time. She quickly figures the only possible reason is that she’s been abducted by aliens and has 30 days until they kidnap her and take her back.

Jesse Jones finds Sierra on the prairie sleeping under a tree. This girl dressed in boy’s pants with a sleeveless top and jewelry in her navel! What’s a cowboy to think? When his friend, a shaman, tells him Sierra is from the future and they are destined to marry, he doesn’t know which way to turn. Sierra insists that the "Alien Gang" will come back for her in a month. A month isn’t long enough to make a marriage.

Sierra remembers reading of Jesse in history books and has toured the farmhouse in 2007. She knows he marries, but knows it can’t be her. However, she’s determined to have fun while she can before returning to her own time.

I found this to be a charming book. Sierra is full of midwestern bull-headedness and knows how to use shocking statements to get her way. She knows women just don’t say things like she does when you live in 1883. Jesse has his hands full. He’s not immune to her figure and her stubbornness charms him more than any girl he’s ever met. However, he’s just as midwestern and just as bull-headed as Sierra. Will these two ever make a move for each other?

This story is full of answers to lots of questions about life in the old west. Sierra’s mishaps with a wood burning stove give me a new appreciation for bread machines and slice and bake cookies. I was born in Omaha and know lots of the Omaha and Nebraska history. While Ms. Robinson puts a lot of historical events into the book, I knew they weren’t all quite accurate. It did make the story flow better to have all the events happen in Omaha, so I was able to overlook these not-quite-right facts and move on.

This story is captivating from start to finish.
