Alison Kerby has just moved back with her daughter Melissa to Harbor Haven after her divorce. She has decided to spruce up her home and turn it into a bed and breakfast inn (minus the breakfast seeing as she doesnít cook that well). The only problem she has is that the house is inhabited by two ghosts; ghosts that Alison, her mother and her daughter can all see and hear. Seeing a huge money-making endeavor, Alison enlists the help of the two ghosts. Twice a day they are to make their presence known to guests and entertain them. The only thing the ghosts ask is that Alison helps them on investigative assignments. Since the ghosts cannot leave the property, Alison is now their eyes and ears. Alison doesnít realize how soon her gumshoe abilities will be put to the test.
During a Seniorís tour, the guests are treated to a sťance held by Alison. As she is asking her resident ghosts questions, one of the seniors falls over dead. Several of the other guests had ample opportunity to kill her but did they have the motive? It is up to Alison and her crime fighting ghosts to figure out who committed the murder before she ends up haunting her own house.
I love nothing more than a warm blanket and a great mystery book. E. J. Copperman is certainly wonderful at weaving a great mystery. From the very get go, readers are in for a treat that will leave them guessing until the final chapter. I love playing the amateur sleuth and trying to figure out who the villain is and found myself quite surprised by the ending. Alison Kerby is a wonderful character who finds herself in the strangest situations, but comes out on top with the bad guy getting justice. If you love a great mystery like I do, I highly recommend getting this book.
