This absolutely breathtakingly written paranormal romance is the story of Elena, a mortal made angel and her Archangel, Raphael. Elena in a sense is living a double life. Before she was turned into an Angel she was a Guild Hunter, a hunter who killed rogue or non-law-abiding Vampires. Now, while she is still a Guild Hunter, she is also Raphael's Consort. From what I got from the book, a Consort is an Archangel's mate, equal and everything in life.

Since I didn't read the previous books in this series, I don't know Elena and Raphael's whole story. But the story that Nalini Singh writes in this book has me looking for it so I know how absolutely everything unfolded. The love in this book is mind blowing to say the least. How Elena and Raphael interact with one another, respect one another and just make everything work is one of the best love stories I have read in a long time.

While all of this love is floating around, Elena and Raphael are dealing with quite a few things that are going on not only in New York, which is Raphael's territory but around the world as well. There is an ancient Archangel awakening somewhere and that is wrecking havoc on not only the Angel's but the weaker vampires as well. Elena is called onto more than one scene to figure out who could be behind all the vampire deaths. Elena's specialty is not only killing vampires when needed but also smells. She can track a vampire by their specific scent to bring them in for justice if needed. The certain smell she is getting at these recent scenes is Black Orchid a very distinct scent and it belongs to a certain very, very strong ancient Archangel. An Archangel that has Raphael tied up in knots on figuring out how he is going to handle the situation when the time arrives because it absolutely has to be dealt with.

Elena's fight while she is helping Raphael with his struggle is within her family. Her father has just found out that one of his other daughter's is hunter-born as well and does not like it one bit. Especially since this makes it known to Elena, whom he doesn't consider part of the family anymore, that the hunter gene is actually coming from him. His second wife Gwendolyn is behind supporting her daughter at all costs when it becomes known she must attend the Guild Academy to help her hone her skills and learn to live with what she is or to become. This is also another of Elena's struggles the death of her mother Marguerite, who took her life one day and Elena found her body.

The amazing thing between Raphael and Elena is how they keep one another grounded while everything around them is in chaos. It all starts to come to a close though when they find out they need to go to Japan and confront the main producer of the major upheaval in their lives. I for one highly recommend this book. The love between Elena and Raphael in more than one time took my breath away while reading. I was just glued, and I hope you enjoy reading Archangel's Consort as much as I did!!!
