Brianna Winston-Beaufort is a lawyer who has inherited her great-uncle’s popular law firm. The only issue with the law firm is that it’s popular with the dead. Bree is now owner of a firm that handles appeal cases for the souls of the dead. Bree must ensure that these souls are not sent to hell but instead are able to go to heaven.
Bree is now representing Russell O’Rourke, an ex-banker who has killed himself. With all the evidence that is coming to light, Bree believes that he was murdered. She and her team of angels must wade through the evidence and possible suspects and find the truth behind what happened if they are to save O’Rourke’s soul.
This is the third book in this series and is a definite page-turner. Mary Stanton really knows how to paint a picture. I could just imagine seeing the beautiful southern homes and smelling the flowers as I turned the page. Her characters are beautifully written. I felt strongly for Bree and the challenges she faced with learning the ropes of the Celestial Courts as she goes through the story. The ending was not what I was expecting but I could go back and see the clues that I missed along the way. One thing is for sure, if I ever find myself on the wrong side of Purgatory, I know just who to call.
