Coco LeBlanc is an alligator conversationist currently living with her grandmother. She spends her days wandering the bayou checking on the alligators she loves. There are a couple of key problems in her life, however. First her grandmother practices voodoo which troubles Coco as she explores her own new found Christianity. Second, Beau Trahan has produced eviction papers for their home.

Now you would think that would be trouble enough, except Coco goes on to discover one of her beloved beasts with a body. The body is none other than Beau Trahan. Some might think this would solve her problems but given that he had just served eviction papers on her family that puts them in a position of suspicion. Add to that the fact that Coco’s ex-boyfriend happens to be Beau’s grandson, Luke, and things get really troublesome. Then to further deepen the plot, Luke has some of his own battles to wage. As things unfold in the investigation, Luke also comes under scrutiny.

Can this couple work through the current high anxiety running rampant around the area? They have to wade through that at the same time they come to grips with their own past and present relationship.

Robin Caroll’s plot line in Bayou Justice is quite intriguing and very entertaining. There were several twists and turns and multi-faceted relational dynamics. The hero and heroine are both flawed individuals who are dealing with some pretty complex issues being thrown at them and trying to come out on top. I have to admit I learned a few things about alligators in the process. Robin’s love of the bayou and Louisiana were very evident in the stories and she is quite descriptive in her scenes and the personalities developed in the region.

The only down side to the book that I found were a few cases of point of view shifts that were a bit jarring. All in all, it is worth the read.
