Nathalie Mayer is 34, sees herself as "medically damaged goods" and is determined to stay single for life. She dates some, but nothing can repair the hurt of the day six years ago when her boyfriend disappeared out of her life without a phone call, note or a goodbye.

Evan Davies returns home to raise his six year old daughter. He runs into the girl he jilted, Nathalie, almost immediately. How can he ever explain his actions or gain her forgiveness? He wants to try to repair his relationship with her, but how can he ever break through the walls she’s erected?

Nathalie and Evan are a couple that you root for from page one. As much as they fight their attraction to each other, it simmers beneath the surface at all times. I enjoyed the romance because I found it to be a little more intellectual than most. I enjoyed watching all of the psychology of Natalie and Evan working out their past…and maybe their future. This is a story with a deeper kind of love than just sexual magnetism.

If you like an old-fashioned romance set in modern settings, I think this would be the perfect book for you.
