Plenty of love (both friendship and romance) along with emotional turmoil and lots of excellent recipes in the back of the book. This makes for a delicious story with many intriguing plot lines.
Three friends, Toni, who is in the middle of a divorce from Junior; Petra, whose husband suffers from Alzheimers disease and is in a nursing home and Suzanne, who lost her husband in the not too distant past live in the tiny town of Kindred in the Midwest. They have opened their own business called The Cackleberry Club Café, featuring egg dishes and also a Book Nook and a Sewing and Talking Room. These women have all lost husbands in different ways and need something to gain back their independence. They are also very good at detecting. So, when the Mayoral Candidate, Chuck Peebler is struck with an arrow from a crossbow and killed when leaving the Cafe, the ladies are in their element. There is a killer running loose in Kindred and the Cackleberry Club is on the move.
This is a really fun book to read. The women of the club are completely likeable. A lot of humor and emotions and good food, including special recipes and a very good mystery to boot. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon.
