Lady Venetia Campbell has finally convinced her father, the Earl of
Duncannon, to allow her to travel to Scotland. Prior to this, her
father had refused permission for her traveling to Scotland, because the
Scottish Scourge had been targeting his friends and associates to rob.
Since everyone believes the Scourge is dead, the Earl gives permission
for Venetia to travel to Scotland. Little do they know, the Scourge
escaped death after the terrible beating the Earl's men gave him and now
seeks to kidnap Venetia and hold her for ransom for the amount the Earl
owes his family.
Sir Lachlan Ross, the Scourge, is desperate for the money that the Earl owes his family, because Lachlan's lands and people are struggling to survive. Lachlan plans to kidnap Venetia and return her before her reputation is ruined, but Venetia doesn't go quietly and is determined to escape.
Beware A Scot's Revenge is a very enjoyable historical romance with great characters and an interesting plot. Take one hard-headed Scotsman and one stubborn Scotswoman and sit back and enjoy the fireworks. Venetia and Lachlan make a great couple , even though they fight their attraction. The historical backdrop of turmoil in Scotland only adds to the tension of the plot. Ms. Jeffries creates a vivid picture of Scotland at this time, when crofters were being forcibly evicted from their homes. I felt bad for Lachlan's plight and understood his reasons for the kidnapping. Venetia is a determined woman, who slowly learns the plight of her fellow Scots and determines to help in any way that she can.
All in all, Beware A Scot's Revenge is a very entertaining read with a great plot and likeable characters. I highly recommend it.
