Olivia Wallace is facing yet another birthday. Over the past few years, they have been exactly stellar days, inevitably with something bad happening. She has come through a lot, including ovarian cancer. When her best friend’s mother is coming from Florida, Olivia is convinced to take a break from shoveling Ohio snow and heading down to housesit for her.
A number of interesting events take place the first couple of days she is there including a run in with an alligator in her backyard to an older gentleman swimming in her pool. She also gets to share the house with a flatulent dog wearing a lampshade. It keeps her wondering what is next. She is blessed though to meet the handsome gentleman who lives next door.
Jared is a welcome event in her life and she enjoys meeting a new friend. However, from every cloud a little rain must fall. As the time for Olivia to return home approaches, she realizes Jared has become more than a friend. Her heart is now involved but she has to return home. All in all, they both have some tough decisions to make.
I enjoyed the sweet romance that Sandra Bricker creates in The Big 5-0h!. I could really relate to Olivia as the strange events happen around her, and yet at the same time, I had to chuckle at how she dealt with it all. Jared was the sweet man who we all want in our lives.
Truly this story covers all of the best emotions – the sighs of gentle love, the chuckle of daily comedy, the tearing eyes at sweet relationships.
