Catherine Sheldon started out as just one person doing fashion design and doing what she loved. Somehow over time, the business has flourished and her fingers are in everything. However, the time has come to slow down. She is feeling the need for more in her life than just fashion and business. She knows she wants someone special in her life but is unsure just how to go about that. She sets up a trusted employee to take over the business end of the business to allow her more time for actual fashion design, which is her true passion. Now that she has some time on her hands, maybe…just maybe…

Antoinette is a much loved and trusted mentor in Catherine’s life (every bit as important as her mother). Catherine shares some of her thoughts and feelings with Antoinette who wants to help Catherine achieve her goal. Throwing a party seems just the thing to do. Catherine, however, is less than impressed with the group of men "lined up" for her to review…well, except maybe one. Justin seems really sweet and certainly has some potential. Towards the end of the party, Catherine leaves the group for some alone time as she is feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything. After sitting by the pool and things becoming quiet as people leave, Catherine slips into the pool "au natural" but is surprised to discover when she wants to get out that she isn’t alone. William is watching from the side and has no intention of doing the gentlemanly thing of stepping inside or even turning his back to allow her to get out.

In spite of being very frustrated with William’s response, Catherine finds herself drawn to him in a way that tingles her toes. She is incredibly drawn to him and despite her best efforts begins seeing him along with Justin. The time will come when she will have to truly study her heart.

Shelley LeBlanc has vividly portrayed what so many of us do every day. There are two choices laid out in front of us. One looks so right and one is so right but sometimes figuring out which is which can be really difficult. I have to admit there were times I was really frustrated with Catherine because she seemed to have the world by the tail and then do something that you just felt your mouth dropping open and wondering what she was thinking. Because of these traits, the reader easily slips into the presence of Catherine and can feel what she is feeling.

Blinded by Passion certainly isn’t a comedy by any stretch but it certainly is a great showing of irony. On one hand do this, on one hand do that, on one hand do the other and so on as you quickly run out of hands. Very interesting illustrations, Shelley.
