When Fitzgerald Webb, Oil Executive and Chairman of Webb International is found murdered, colleague Craig Blackthorne wants to know why. Like any cut throat industry there are enemies. But who wanted to kill the Chairman of the Board? What could they possibly gain from it? Craig makes it is business to find out.

Jennifer Webb, daughter of the victim is devastated. She worked beside her father in the family business. She was being groomed to run the empire. But at her father’s sudden demise, she turns to Craig Blackthorne to take over the helm of the company. She offers him the business and she plans to stay on as the Webb family figurehead. This had been her father’s decision before died. Had he known there was trouble ahead? And what of the new partners and their instant attraction to each other? Are they strong enough to withstand the pressures that will try and force them apart?

There are secrets lurking. Jennifer’s family is not what they seem. There is tragic guilt and great evil to be exposed. The emotionally tormented Jennifer is faced with some ugly revelations and lies from the past. Is she strong enough to cope?

There are so many things happening in Blow Out. There is the murderous revenge of ex-lover, an evil corporate raider and people being kidnapped and tortured to reveal secrets that can harm the Webb family. Issues of control, scheming imposters and traitors abound. And you just know that the murder victim is not squeaky clean and there is a definite reason behind his sudden murder.

I have to admit, that I found Jennifer a little tedious and clingy. The character had some truly, deep set emotional issue but after a while she irritated me and I wanted her to get a grip. But, I don’t look at this as a bad thing as it shows great depth to the character. I would rather form a strong opinion on a character than be bored to tears. I didn’t get that with heroine. As for Craig, well he’s the hero, the sort of man you want beside you in a crisis. And I liked the character of Cliff. He is a man who is crippled with guilt and needing support. You want to see a happy ending for him.

I found I had to concentrate whilst reading Blow Out as there is so much action. But that does not make it a hard book to read. On the contrary, it keeps you wondering what will happen next.

Blow Out is romance, intrigue and suspense. It’s about two people who fall in love and must face great physical and emotional danger to survive. You won’t be bored.
