Get out your book lights, because you’ll be up all night reading this one!

Carlotta Wren’s life is a mixed up mess to begin with. Her parents skipped bail and left her in charge of her baby brother. She’s done the best she can to raise him right, but he’s gotten himself in a little trouble with the law. She works at Neiman Marcus and does ok for herself and her brother Wesley. When Wesley gets himself in trouble, why does he have to be assigned to a super-hunk cop? Now the great detective is always hanging around and watching them. Then Wesley gets a job as a body mover for the morgue and gains a sexy boss whose looks alone stop women in their tracks. Add her ex-fiancé who dumped her when her parents skipped town ten years ago and you’ve got an interesting threesome of men to choose from.

I was rooting for Carlotta all the way through. She’s sort of a grown up Nancy Drew. I loved her attitude, her comebacks and her spunk. Nothing’s going to get her down. She doesn’t realize how smart she is as she begins to piece together seemingly unrelated crimes faster than the police. As the pieces start to fall into place, Carlotta is extra-motivated to help solve the crimes…because she’s afraid she will be the next murder victim.

This is a totally spellbinding book and you’ll have trouble putting it down. I’m thrilled to note the second book is also now available. The focus is more on the mystery than on the romance, but it sure is funny how romance really does affect every part of our lives. I think Ms. Bond has done an outstanding job at creating a totally believable storyline that sparks the imagination and can hold reader interest from beginning to end. I knew she was talented, but I never dreamed Ms. Bond was this good of a writer. Definitely a keeper!
