Jamie Macpherson returns home after a long time away. The tenth son, whose mother died in childbirth, has never been treated well by his father. But, after tragedy strikes, Jamie is called home. Arriving late at night, he sees a creature whom he believes to be a faerie. Imagine his surprise to find out this vision is his betrothed. Aveline Matheson is a woman with great spirit—and a sensual streak that won’t be denied.

Can his contracted union survive? Jamie’s darkest enemy has already killed his brothers and is looking to eliminate all of the Macpherson’s. Will Jamie fall into the sinister plot? Will his bride be targeted as well?

You know, there’s just something about a man in a kilt that does my heart good. Jamie is no slouch in the sexy department. Don’t ever let the kilt fool you—real men wear plaids! Jamie is a great guy who is sensitive and just doesn’t realize he needs a good woman to love. Aveline is petite and dainty and has a sexual desire that is of gigantic proportions. She is quite the feisty little gal and it’s going to take more than a few ghosts to get her down.

Jamie’s brother’s ghost keeps appearing to his father. Dripping wet and drenching the laird in river water. Jamie’s father might believe in ghosts, but Jamie doesn’t. He’s determined to find out who killed his brothers—and make him pay.

This story really holds your attention. It was surprisingly easy to follow, even with the mystery going on and the sub-plots. I thought it was a very enjoyable read and the mystery will keep you guessing until the last page. The events at the end of the story come fast and furious. The best part of this book for me was the fact that it has castles, keeps, and the ever-important kilts.
