This is a really fun read. The first in a series of Queen Bee Mysteries by Hannah Reed and a very novel way to commit murder and mayhem using Honey Bees. Hurray for an imaginative writer.
Melissa "Story" Fischer has just gone through a messy divorce but, ended up with a store called "The Wild Clover" that she and her ex-husband bought when they moved from Milwaukee to Moraine. The store specializes in Honey of all flavors and also organically grown fruits and vegetables. It's the month of September -- National Honey Month -- and Story decides to celebrate by having a party in her new store. Her divorce is final and her store is doing well. She has started a beekeeping business with the help of Manny, her teacher and mentor in beekeeping. Sadly, Manny is found dead on the day of the party and it looks like the culprits are a swarm of Honey Bees. Story is trying to explain to the townspeople that the bees had nothing to do with the death when another dead body is found floating in the river. This time the evidence points to Story's smarmy ex-husband. Story knows that he is not a very nice person but, she doesn't see him as a killer. So, she investigates to try to save her bees and maybe her ex too.
It's going to be very hard to put this one down. There is action from the very first page until the last. It is extremely well written and very unusual using bees as the culprits. Surely, a new angle and a good one. I'm looking forward to reading more of the Queen Bee Series from Hannah Reed. Also, there are some delicious sounding recipes included in the back of the book. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon,
