Elizabeth Jackson has created a peaceful life for herself and her son, Joe, in Tennessee. That is until the day that her past catches up with her. She is forced to mentally relive the beatings of her husband as she sees him across a restaurant. In her fear, she stumbles from the restaurant only to find Cole, the monster, has followed her.
Her stumbling led to being hit by a car and ending up in the hospital where she has no choice but to listen to this man. Upon truly listening to him, however, she discovers her husband had a twin brother, Alex. Alex is trying to discover how this woman, Elizabeth Jackson, looks so much like his dead sister-in-law, Jessica Ramsey.
While Alex and Cole are vastly different, Elizabeth/Jessica questions whether or not she can trust Alex. Can he help protect her from the past which has haunted her these last five years? Can he protect the son whose father doesn’t even know of his existence? Can he help to heal her heart?
Michelle Perry has proven herself a master of suspense with this book. This adventure is clearly laid out and becoming a part of the story proves to be no challenge. The characters have been created with quite a bit of depth and the descriptions used by the author are riveting. This is not a book to be read when you want to relax as the chapters unfold with a great deal of suspense and surprises are around each corner. I actually found myself thinking about the book while at work and was anxious to return home to finish it.
Great reading!!
