Dear Readers:

In the first book of this amazing series titled, Waterfall, we were all introduced to sisters - Gabi and Lia - who had been taken to an archaeological dig by their Mom. You see, their Dad has passed away and their Mom has finally found THE spot they’d been looking for all their lives.

The Etruscan tombs are simply amazing, and the girls’ Mom is trying desperately to keep the "site" to herself and out of the hands of her archaeological adversary, Dr. Manero.

In Waterfall, the two girls had entered Tomb Two and had seen a set of stone handprints carved in the wall - the same size as their own. When they touched the handprints they were whisked back in time to the 1300’s when a war was going on between battling families and towns (Firenze vs. Siena). While there, Gabi fell hard for Marcello Forelli and wants nothing more than to get back to him as fast as possible.

In Cascade, the girls have come back to the present to retrieve their mother. But how to tell her all this? When Mom sees her children dressed in medieval garb, and Gabi covered in what looks like blood, the girls must talk fast in order to get Mom to understand that they DID actually time-travel. And, luckily for Gabi, Mom wants to see what they’ve seen, so this time mother AND daughters head into the past.

When they arrive, Marcello is certainly still there and, although peace reigns, there are many Firenze spies and supporters who are looking to unseat the Forelli’s for good. Gabi sees that Marcello’s older brother is now feeling well, and he is about to marry Lady Rossi - who was a "snake in the grass" the last time Gabi was there. Lady Rossi had been promised to Marcello, but that is all over now. She is going to marry the oldest brother in order to rule the Forelli castle.

Gabi doesn’t buy all this. She knows the Rossi’s are "dirty" players and she’s determined to make sure they don’t overthrow her true love and his family. Siena loves the two sisters. In fact, they have become legends since the first time they fought. Screaming out "Lu-pe" when the girls walk into a room, Gabi and Lia soon feel like princesses at the prom. They are the "She-wolves" who are admired and respected…until the tides begin to turn. Add in a romance for Lia this time around, and exposure to the plague that wiped out this location for a time in history, and the story becomes one of sheer magical, fast-paced thrills. Not to mention…a journey in time to perhaps save someone from their own death leads readers down a whole different path - readying them for the next incredible book in this series.

Ms. Bergren is a fantastic YA author who offers so much adventure, history, romance, excitement, and ideals all rolled up into one, that it makes it nearly impossible to put her books down. Personally, I can’t wait to hold Torrent - the third novel - in my hands!

Until next time,
Amy
