Being thrown into jail was not what Lily Morgan had in mind when she was sent to the Kingdom of Montebianco for a research article. Lily is being accused of stealing Montebiancan antiquities that she had bought off of a street vendor. But, the picture of herself with her son is what actually has gotten the attention of the Prince and Heir to the Montebiancan throne. Nico Cavelli upon seeing the picture cannot believe what he sees. The little boy is identical to him so he goes to Lily's cell to see what she has to say for herself. What he doesn't expect is for her to deny everything. Nico is no stranger to paternity suites but this is the first time a woman is not after him to take care of their child, even this one whom he knows does indeed belong to him.
Lily couldn't believe when Nico walked into her holding cell. She hadn't seen him since their one night together in New Orleans. The night that they had conceived their son Danny. The son that Lily had never told Nico about when she had found out whom he really was. Then in the span of a few hours Nico walks back into her life and turns it all upside down with what he does next. In order to get out of Lily what he wants Nico offers money to the friend of Lily's babysitting Danny to turn him over and get him to Montebianco where he rightly belongs as Nico's heir. Not only that but he makes Lily marry him and become his Princess.
For me it was reading Lily and Nico's struggles with not only one another but also the whole adjustment of a family that made this book so good to read. Even though Danny is 2 years old you know how Nico is feeling about being a new parent, if you just sit back and think about everything you've gone through with your children if you have any. If not, then the little struggles you do read about are a good depiction of what you just might go through when it is your time to become a parent. As for me with a daughter that is almost two, it really hit home with the struggles and ups and downs my family is going through right now. Lily bounces back and forth with her feelings for Nico through all of this but its watching Nico with Danny that makes her fall for him all over again. But it’s not until his family is in danger that Nico realizes how much they mean to him and does whatever he can to get them back.
