Charlotte Adams, a professional organizer, will organize your closets, desks and any dead bodies she comes across in this delightful cozy mystery. Charlotte says: "Show me your closets and you show me your secrets."
Charlotte takes on the job of organizing the closets (7 of them) of a former friend, or perhaps enemy of her mother. This lady has been in competition with Charlotte's mother in all phases of life and takes pride in needling Charlotte about her. Charlotte's client, Lorelei Beauchamp, is a former model and married to a very rich husband. Sadly, the Beauchamp's have just lost their only child, Anabel, due to an accident at a construction site. Lorelei, knowing that sometimes Charlotte just can't stay out of the police's business tells Charlotte that she doesn't think Anabel's death was an accident and she would like Charlotte to look into it. Anabel's father, Harry, is hoping that cleaning out closets will take his wife's attention away from looking into Anabel's death. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and Lorelei just falls into a depression helped along by Harry's habit of making Champagne cocktails each morning to start the day.
Charlotte is a very interesting character who has been living in this town for many years and knows everyone – especially her old friends from childhood. She has a great business and is good at it. Her best friend is Jack, whom she has known for years; and, also her high school friends that include two people from the local police force, a lawyer, and a doctor. So, she is in pretty good shape as far as friends go. She has gotten into trouble in the past by running private investigations into crimes and gotten herself into trouble more than once but, that doesn't stop her from jumping feet first into this case. She has plenty of help with all her acquaintances.
I really loved this book and look forward to the next to see what happens between Charlotte and Jack. It's a lot of fun to see Charlotte try to get all her ducks (or suspects) in a row and decide where to start looking into the reason for Anabel's demise. There are many characters in this story but the author keeps them all straight and so will you. The writing is very good and I highly recommend this book to all cozy mystery readers. I don't really know when this cozy mystery thing got going but I really enjoy them and know that you will too.
Enjoy and I'll talk to you soon,
