It’s not unusual for a 12 year old to make friends when she moves into a new home. However, when Hannah’s new friend is a ghost named Lilah, that’s a little surprising. Hannah knows she needs to help Lilah find her way to the light, but can’t figure out how to do so. Hannah’s family accepts her ability to communicate with ghosts, but it does unnerve them from time to time.
When Hannah goes to the Sweet Pea Festival in town, a trip through the corn maze provides her with information about Lilah. She needs to help Lilah find the light and now knows how. Her heart is torn because if she helps Lilah, then Hannah will lose her best friend.
Can Hannah let go of Lilah?
Although this was a short story, I was drawn into the lives of the characters and enjoyed it thoroughly. I was pleased to find the story had a complete feeling. It wasn’t choppy and read smoothly from start to finish. I also appreciated the way the subject of ghosts was handled. I found it to be an appropriate read for any young adult.
