Ian Lennard, the Viscount St. Clair, is seeking a wife and needs to produce a heir within two years time or lose his estate. When gossip columnist Lord X writes that Ian has a mistress and puts a crimp in his wife-hunting efforts, Ian vows to find Lord X and stop him. Felicity Taylor has been writing a successful column as Lord X since her father's death. Felicity needs the added income since her father left the family almost destitute. Felicity writes the column about Ian hoping to get her friend out of his clutches, but Ian tracks her down and discovers her secret. Ian decides that Felicity will make him a good wife. Unfortunately, Ian has secrets and Felicity has been burned by aristocrats in the past.

The Dangerous Lord is a great historical romance with a wonderful hero and a heroine who is his equal and match in every way. Ian has secrets, and while the evidence looks bad for him, he is an honorable, intelligent man. Felicity has to learn to trust Ian even though at times it appears he might be a scoundrel. While I understand Ian's guilt and hesitancy in revealing his secret, I really wish he had revealed it a little sooner. Even so, The Dangerous Lord is a spectacular regency read, which deserves a spot on the keeper shelf.
