Dave Lieberman has created a cookbook that is designed (in our opinions) for the everyday cook who wants to be a bit adventuresome. Both of us took the cookbook home and tried a couple of recipes. Lori tried the Shrimp Fettuccini and Carrot Mash Cake (w/o the icing), along with the Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats. As you can guess the last one was a big hit with the teenagers and didn’t last long. The other two were also well received. Sara tried the Best Ever Chocolate Cake and the Ricotta Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Dates. Both were quite good.
The great thing about this cookbook is that the majority of the ingredients are either items you regularly have at home or are easy to get. The recipes themselves are well written, easy to follow and weren’t hugely time consuming.
Both families would recommend this book for the everyday cook who wants to stretch their wings a little bit. With Lori’s picky family, we tended to gravitate more towards the meats and desserts while Sara’s family is just a bit more adventuresome. Each of us found though that about half of the recipes were ones we would try.
