Diane Fallon is a forensic investigator/museum curator for the city of Rosewood. She embarks upon a case that will present her with the greatest challenge of her career.
Three bodies are found in the middle of a forest by conservation workers during a routine check. They were hung. Three weeks earlier.
The bodies seem almost impossible to identify due to mutilation and the period of time that passed before discovery. One of my favorite parts at this point is how Diane manages to use the ropes used in the hangings to help link them to a possible killer. Her cave exploring knowledge with ropes and knows proves to be an asset.
Soon, three more murders occur with attempts made on Diane's life.
She uses her staff and the forensic lab at the museum to help put the pieces together even though it seems all the evidence they have leads to no clues or suspects.
Another favorite part was when Diane feels she has found the missing link to all the murders, but won't tell the police until she's sure. She has a knack of making the police dept. look foolish at times.
Finally the first three bodies are identified and the killer is revealed to Diane. She uses her knowledge to bring him/her to justice and an end to the case of her career.
Beverly writes with an intensity that challenges the reader's mind. Her style of writing captivates the imagination and stretches it and takes it to the next level. The characters are so realistic it often times gave the feeling of being a true story. The sequence of scenes and word play are extraordinary.
Dead Guilty is a must read for all mystery/thriller/suspense readers. Once you've read one Beverly Connor book you can't stop. You'll go fo more.
