Kitt Jordan, a snow leopard shifter, has taken a new job as a professor but gets drawn into an investigation of a serial killer who is targeting teenage shifters. The task force, which is created to investigate the deaths, includes vampiric Aetermus, Antoinette Petrescu, and wolf shifter, Raven. Raven is Kitt's former lover and part of the reason she was banished from her tribe. It seems that Kitt and Raven's tribes are enemies, and they were torn apart when Kitt's husband was murdered and Raven is accused of the murder.

Ms. O'Hara pens a truly enjoyable urban fantasy with spectacular world-building, endearing characters, and a thrilling plot, which keeps the reader guessing until the end. Kitt and Raven have an almost Romeo and Juliet like romance, with feuding tribes and a forbidden love. Kitt is determined to not repeat the past and hopes to be reinstated into her tribe so that she can be with and protect her twin daughters. Luckily, Kitt's tribe doesn't know that Raven is the twins' father. The tribe thinks the twins were fathered by Kitt's murdered husband. Raven, who has a price on his head, placed there by Kitt's tribe, has returned and is determined to fight for his love and his daughters. Raven is a warrior, but, also loving and protective, which makes for a sigh-worthy hero. The remaining cast of characters are almost as interesting as Kitt and Raven, and I hope to see more of their stories in the next book. There is also a great mystery/suspense plot interwoven into the storyline, which keeps the reader guessing until the end. I can truly say that I didn't see that one coming. Kudos to Ms. O'Hara for a job well done!
