Madeira Cutler owns a vintage clothing store in Mystick Falls, CT. She loves restoring them to their original look and helping to reclaim their glory in the hands of new owners. The only downside to her thriving business is the visions she gets from the clothes. Some visions she has are fairly mild or they could be full blown visions that knock her completely out. She sees whoever has worn the clothing before she gets it and what happened to these people. Madeira goes into work one day hoping for a normal day when she sees a box addressed to her from a dear friend. She sees the beautiful dress that she designed herself for big name actress Dominique DeLong inside the package with a note addressed directly to her. She learns from the note that Dominique is dead and that she must help solve the mystery surrounding her death.
Maddie must travel to New York and immerse herself in the sea of parasites that surrounded Dominique’s life. Dominique chose Maddie as the executor of her will and wanted her to host a fashion show in her honor to disperse her vintage clothes collection. Maddie, along with her sexy Federal Agent Nick, must unravel the clues and potential suspects and solve the case before Maddie becomes the next to take the final curtain call.
This was such a fun and suspenseful mystery I could not put it down. I found myself a little jealous of Madeira with her wonderful vintage clothing store and hunky on-again off-again boyfriend. I think it would be exciting to be able to see visions of people like Coco Chanel by touching a dress that she wore and get wonderful insight into her life. Madeira is a great sleuth. I love how she uses her gifts to help her solve the mystery of her friend’s death. This is a wonderful addition to the mystery genre and I can’t wait until the next one.
