Cupid’s curse and gift(s) are alive and kicking. All Valentines were given the gift of reading auras. Lucy Valentine’s aura-reading ability was zapped out of her when she was a teen. That gift was replaced with another, the ability to find lost objects.
Now that her psychic gift is no longer a secret, Lucy is now heading up a new division of Valentine Inc., called Lost Loves. She helps people reunite with their long lost loved ones. It’s a job that can have its rewards; however, this time isn’t one of them. Her father, president, CEO, and all things in charge made an unbelievable arrangement with Preston Bailey, investigative reporter and albatross around her neck. Preston is to do a series of articles on Lost Loves and the people Lucy reunites. Makes for great human interest, you know. Especially a story where Lucy helps a WWII veteran find the love he left when he went to war.
She also works as a consultant to one Detective Aiden Holliday on cold or unsolved missing person’s cases. This case concerns a missing wife; a police officer possibly murdered his wife and allegedly abused his two children.
During these cases Lucy witnesses happiness and sadness. She meets some interesting and kind people. Preston Bailey shows Lucy some interesting and surprising sides to herself.
As for the curse…no Valentine has been able to experience true love. Friends and family alike tell Lucy that she and Sean Donahue (hot PI and partner in all things investigative) are meant to be together. Interruptions and emergencies continue to keep them "apart" though, leaving Lucy to firmly believe, more than ever, that true love is not anywhere in her future. Sadly, Sean is just about breaking Lucy’s heart.
Not enough on her plate? Well, one of her best friends, Em, is going through some difficult times and unknowingly needs Lucy and Marisol’s help.
Did I mention a stalker of sorts…and I forgot to tell you about…no, I really shouldn’t. You’ll have to find out on your own…
You couldn’t call Lucy or her life dull or even tranquil. To say the least it’s full of drama, action, and the potential for danger is there. Unconventional relationships with friends and family, big-hearted actions, courage and determination, well it’s all quite a combination, isn’t it?
LucyD is a charming breath of fresh air. Her story has layer upon layer of charm, sparkle, heart, swirling and intriguing twists, with plenty of fun and romance.
Deeply, Desperately is an oh-so entertaining read, which came to an end too soon. I cannot wait for the next book!!!
