Meg Piddington finds herself immersed in a mystery. One of the things she loves best. And being a member of the Ladies’ Amateur Sleuth Society has helped hone her detecting skills. After all, they’re working on a way to unmask society’s brazen thief the Jack of Hearts (as of yet to no avail). So how hard could it be to unmask a thief in her father’s confectionary factory with all fingers pointing to factory worker, Gareth Mandeville? Fingers she knows first hand are pointing in the wrong direction.

The last thing Gareth needs in his life is a complication in the form of one Meg Piddington. He has past family issues he needs to deal with in his own way and own time. He really wants to be left alone. But he finds he can’t help himself. Against his better judgment he’s drawn to her and finds himself assisting her in exonerating his name. What they find only raises more questions.

In the midst of their hunt, the attraction and heat between Meg and Gareth build leaving them a bit confused, yet breathless, as each has reasons of their own not to get involved or fall in love. It seems past hurts and grief follow them both, determining the course they’ve set for themselves.

After searching for clues and running out of time, Gareth soon learns Meg will go to great lengths to clear him of possible dismissal and/or pending charges. It’s something that will unwittingly shed light on the factory’s thief.

It’s hard to find fault with Robyn DeHart’s newest novel of love and intrigue. It warms and captures the attention.

A fresh setting in a confectionary factory instead of the usual ton balls and musicales, add to the mix a fast paced plot and romance, intrigue, just a dash of humor, and you’ve a recipe for a wonderful story.

I found Meg to be charming, kind, loyal, and a tad impulsive. She’s someone anyone would like as a friend. And she doesn’t need more than that to capture Gareth’s attention. Gareth is a gentleman who claims not to be a gentleman. He’s strong, gentle, protective, and a bit withdrawn, secretive perhaps.

The secondary characters are likeable. And unlikable. They all know their roles and play them accordingly. Meg’s friends (who we met in Amelia’s story A Study In Scandal) are each different and delightful. Each deserving of her own happily ever after.

Deliciously Wicked is thoroughly engaging. Robyn DeHart writes a lush yet intriguing story. She never fails to tell the kind of tales I truly enjoy to read with the kind of characters I love to meet.
