Zara Kingston is a woman of many faces, some of them even unknown to herself. Her father was a geologist and traveled extensively when Zara was a child and her mother opted to travel with him. So, Zara was raised by her grandparents with visits from her parents until they were killed while working in Zaddara. So while she had many friends in many places, she was now relatively on her own after her grandparent’s death as well. Her career, of choice, has even lent itself well to that lifestyle. Photography can take her places and let her see the world through her camera.

That career and Zara’s own need to know more about her parents have led her to Zaddara. She thought to capture the desert and its animals. Imagine her surprise when her camera lands on one of the most beautiful creatures she has ever seen – a man. Not just any man but a man disrobing before entering the small body of water she has camped out around. Her finger couldn’t push the button any more quickly to capture him in the lighting and movement. Imagine her surprise though when this magnificent man comes with a bodyguard who has now found and snuck up on her while she was in her own world of picture taking.

Sheikh Shahin had been planning on retreat for himself before taking over the throne of Zaddara and he really hadn’t planned on sharing it with anyone. That is until his bodyguard presented him with the little trespasser. While his honor dictates he care for her during the approaching storm, his need for privacy does not allow him to share his real identity. After the storm they each go their own ways but they are never far from each other’s minds.

I am sure you realize about now that they become separated and surely since this is the world of happy romance they get back together again. Since we all pretty much know that, I am going to leave the how for your reading pleasure!!

Susan Stephens has created a clever story with some in depth soul searching on the parts of both of her main characters. Zara has a desire to know her parents and really doesn’t realize how deeply the loss of those parents has affected the way she sees the world. However, the courage she displays in order to find those answers is encouraging. The Sheikh also comes with his share of baggage. There a rules governing the way he lives his life. Can he accept those rules and which ones can he change? Or should he change?

Very well done.
