Kara had thought she was only a twenty-seven year old pre-school teacher with a Mom dying of cancer. That is until Lyon showed up in her kitchen telling her she was Therian, not human and their Radiant, or source of power. Lyon is a Feral Warrior, the leader of the only nine left and they are losing their powers. Kara is the link to keep those powers and their ability to shift into their animal forms. Feral Warriors protect humanity from daemons, who are lifeless entities that come to feed off of your life source to keep them alive.
Once Lyon gets Kara to Feral House is when the trouble really begins. Kara feels threatened while in the house and no one can find a reason as to why. When they find out a Mage, or a very evil sorcerer or sorceress, has infiltrated the house, it leaves Lyon to protect Kara and prepare her to become Radiant. While Lyon and Kara work together, all around them little by little the other warriors are slowly losing their sanity and their ability to control themselves.
I love how Kara and Lyon interact with each other whether it is in anger, love, lust or trust. From the moment Kara decided Lyon was her protector she trusted him fully. Though it took Lyon a little longer to believe in what was there, he came around and together they made an unstoppable duo.
The book was written very well. Ms. Palmer brings everything together and explains everything in great detail and in a way you know and understand what is going on and you somewhat anticipate what could happen next. I will most definitely read this book again, recommend it highly to others to read and will wait impatiently for the other books in the series to come out!
