Justine and the Noble Viscount by Diane Gaston dianegaston.com

Gerald Brenner was abandoned by his mother at a young age. Now, many years later upon his mother’s death on her wedding trip, he is to be executor of her will and guardian of his three half-siblings. Always a man of duty, he will fulfill the last wishes of his mother. Very reluctantly. However, what he finds at Welboune Manor (chaos, indulged children, frivolous excesses, and Justine…) is something out of the spectrum of his knowledge and understanding. It just may be the making of him, though.

As always, Ms. Gaston’s writing is layered with subtle nuances ranging from characters personalities and traits to their deepest fears and emotions. She has the ability to send me to another time and place with her characters, settings and descriptions.

Annalise and the Scandalous Rake by Deb Marlowe www.debmarlowe.com

His life, his heart had become empty, with only his well-kept secret occupation to keep him company and feed his growing cynicism. His deepest passion of art has been buried one layer at a time through disappointments and roadblocks until Ned sets his eyes on Annalise at a Welbourne house party. Through her passion and zest for art and oils, and her outlook on herself and life, his heart begins to open to the possibilities of fulfilling his dream. And Annalise figures into those dreams and his heart. Unfortunately there are forces against them, strong enough that it may just keep them apart.

Ms. Marlowe brought her characters to life. Throughout this story there are a plethora of moments and emotions that will tug at the reader’s heart and have them rooting for Ned and Annalise’s HEA.

Charlotte and the Wicked Lord by Amanda McCabe ammandamccabe.com

Much of his youth was spent with the Fitzmanning family. Now it’s time for Andrew Bassington to face his responsibilities, care for his widowed sister-in-law and young nephew, it’s time to be serious and put the past and fun and all enjoyment aside. Yet how can he when he comes face to face with the one who makes him feel most alive? Duty wars with his feelings for lighthearted and caring Charlotte Fitzmanning. Duty aside, could he even hope that she feels the same?

The turmoil this couple felt toward each other and their futures was evident. Ms. McCabe is skilled at weaving together all facets of a confused and turbulent relationship; the wanting and needing, hopes and dreams, duty above desire, it all wars together until the HEA (hopefully) triumphs.
