Sofie Metropolis is training to be a P.I. at her uncle's firm but
is tired of working cheating spouse cases, so she accepts the case of a
missing man. The local cleaner has disappeared, and it is believed that
he had mob connections. Unfortunately, the mob isn't happy with Sofie's
investigation and her only ally is Jake Porter, the mysterious man, who
is always helping her out of scrapes.
Dirty Laundry is an amusing mystery story with a little romance and some action-- a nice beach read. It is filled with quirky characters and has the feel of MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. My favorite character is Sofie's dog, who has his own unique character and caused me several laugh-out- loud moments. Sofie is intelligent but has a tendency to be imprudent on occasion. Thankfully, Jake is there to come to the rescue in true hero fashion. The relationship between Jake and Sofie is only in its infancy but will probably continue to develop throughout the series. The mystery is concluded in a rather surprising way, and I hope to read the next Sofie mystery soon.
