Faith Lewis is trying desperately to protect her son and is hoping that she finally found a place to do it. She is working as a hairdresser once again but Austin is ready to do more than sit inside. Itís summer and he wants to get involved in baseball again. The owner of the salon has a brother who coaches and is also a local police officer. He is an incredibly sweet man but she just doesnít know if she can trust him.
Nick Coletti was thrust in the role of protector in his family at a very young age, helping his mother to raise his younger sisters. He is used to helping women around him and is drawn to Faith and her little boy. Nick also knows though that she is hiding a secret. His initial inclination is to run a background check on her but decides to wait for her to let him into her story. His heart is opening up much quicker than hers is but cracks are starting to show.
Beth Andrews has created a poignant story of a woman trying to trust again. Her little boy is the key to her secret and to her re-opening her heart. Austin is a sweet child who just wants to be normal but has a lot of darkness that he hasnít dealt with yet. Her heroine is strong and takes care of herself and her son, yet she has a side of her that is very gentle and unsure. Faith is definitely someone a reader can relate to. Nick is that knight in shining armor every woman wants but yet he doesnít come across as fake. He does everything he can to protect her and be gentle with her but he can also come across with some tough love when it is necessary. When asked the question Do You Take This Cop?, I donít know how a reader could say no.
