A geneticist dies inside a lab at Princeton University, a Vatican archaeologist is found dead in St. Peter's in Rome and, in Africa a Senator's son is killed outside a Red Cross camp. These three murders on three different continents have a connection: all the victims are marked with a pagan cross burned into their flesh.
These killings bring Commander Gray Pierce and the Sigma Force into a race to solve a riddle that goes back centuries to a crime against humanity. The first clue is discovered inside a mummified corpse buried in England. It is a secret that threatens America and the world. Sigma Force confronts the world's greatest threat in an adventure that travels from the Roman Coliseum to Norway to medieval times of the Celtic Kings. And, the ultimate clue is located within a talisman buried by a dead saint. An ancient artifact that is known as the Doomsday Key.
This is a wonderful book full of adventures galore. Shades of Clive Cussler, Indiana Jones, James Bond and all the best of them. It is the first James Rollins for me but, believe me it won't be the last. Apparently, Sigma Force, has been seen before but these stories are all individual. The characters are the same but each story is different and is not a prequel or sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it highly to history and mystery buffs and Dan Brown fans. All the more chilling is that much of this story is based on fact. Read this book, you won't regret it and, I'll talk to you soon.
