Lady Jasmina realizes she has a problem. Actually, she knows her mother has a problem with ‘borrowing’ things, but Lady Jasmina has become an expert at breaking and entering to return the borrowed items. Her problem is that to keep her mother and father’s social standing from being tarnished, she will be forced to stay single and help her mother forever. Jasmina is resigned to the fact that she’ll never marry, but wishes from time to time that she didn’t have to cover for her mother so often.

When a simple spell goes haywire and an exact duplicate of Jasmina is released on the streets of London, she has a problem. This duplicate self, Jaz, has no clue as to the proper way a Lady should act. Jaz’s actions are wreaking havoc on Lady Jasmina’s life. When she learns why her spell went haywire, she’s forced to work with a shape-shifting baronet to find her twin and fix the spell.

Working with the baronet, Sir Sterling Thorn, will test Jasmina in more ways than one. He keeps acting like he knows her intimately. While she is shocked at his behavior, she’s more shocked to find herself wishing for more. She knows there is no future for her outside of her parent’s home and no possible way she would ever be allowed to consort with a baronet. Yet, Sterling makes her wish that her life could be different.

While they work together to find the elusive Jaz, they stumble onto a group called the Brotherhood. Will this Brotherhood cause the demise of the royals in London? Will Sterling and Jasmina be able to stop the Brotherhood in time?

Ms. Kennedy is two for two. Double Enchantment is equally as amazing and as well written as the first Relics of Merlin book, Enchanting the Lady. Sterling and Jasmina are both incredibly strong characters. Yet, each one has a weakness they try to hide from everyone—even from their own thoughts. It’s their weaknesses that make them such bold and likable characters. The secondary characters are given enough depth to continue to carry the series forward. I’m interested in reading more about several of these characters. The internal conflict of several characters kept me on the edge of my seat.

Beyond the terrific characters, the descriptions of the magic and how the city and the palace look are crystal clear. I am impressed that the intricacies of the descriptions given don’t slow the story down. I thought Ms. Kennedy really outdid herself in this area.

As Sterling and Jasmina search for the relic and the Brotherhood, the elements of mystery and intrigue kept me awake reading late into the night. If you like Fantasy books or if you like Victorian era books, you will not be disappointed.
