This book is an adventure/historical set in Ancient China. Ling Suyin, a former consort to the Emperor, is known for her fabulous beauty but, now she lives quietly. Unfortunately, a ruthless warlord in the region where she lives, comes and takes her away. Li Tao, the warlord lives his life very dangerously. He uses his sword on his enemies frequently and is pulled into the treachery of politics in 8th Century China. He must uncover the mystery of the beautiful Ling Suyin without falling for her but, this will be a difficult task even for Li Tao.
This tale takes place during the Tang Dynasty in China and is very well-written giving the readers a true account of life in those times. Readers will think that they are back in the 8th Century in China in a world of Emperors, warriors, festivals, courtesans and, of course, danger. The late 8th Century in China was a political mess. The military had more power than they probably should have had and were able to challenge the Imperial Throne of that country. The main characters are fictional, not based on any historical personage but, very real to the reader. Anyone interested in history of ancient times in China will love this book. So enjoy!!
