Eggsecutive Orders by Julie Hyzy is an interesting and fun cozy mystery in the White House Chef Mystery Series. White House Executive chef Ollie Paras is getting ready for a large Easter celebration at the White House.
Too bad a guest of from a previous nightís dinner turns up dead and Ollie and her staff are suspended from cooking anything else in the White House kitchen. While all eyes are on Ollie and her staff, her boyfriend Tom (he works on Presidential Protection Detail) is making it even more difficult for Ollie to "investigate" the manís death and clear her name and that of her kitchen staff.
This is an entertaining third book in the series, a story which gives you another side to Ollie. As she is forced to stay out of her element (the kitchen) she also has to deal with her motherís interest in a man who may be involved in something shady, her grandma, and a growing conflict with Tom.
I also enjoyed the "look" around Washington as Ollie used some of her free time to show her visiting mother and grandmother around. Eggsecutive Orders has fascinating characters and a fast paced story. Watching Ollie deal with all that is happening around her and her being the target of a newspaper columnist adds another interesting dimension to the story. There is even an interesting surprise ending which catches you off guard.
