Forced to travel with her parents to visit family friends in southern Texas, Emily Dane, or as she’s known to her friends, Emmy, is determined to hate every minute of it. Her Aunt Bert is also along looking to buy some cattle. The trip is bound to be the most boring time she’s ever spent, or so she thinks.
Ranch foreman, Diego Marcelo can hardly believe the beauty that has just set foot on the Twisted R Ranch. But the boss’ son, Cuddy has set his sights on Emmy too and being like a brother to him Diego tries to distract himself and curb his growing feelings. Cuddy being the carefree type is determined to have fun with Emmy but he’s beginning to see that her feelings are for Diego.
Shortly after their arrival the Dane’s and Aunt Bert look to their host for expertise in buying cattle. Emmy is allowed to stay on the ranch during this wagon trip, after all they will only be gone for a few days. But the few days becomes much longer than it should and Diego decides that he should go look for the small group. With fervent prayers on their lips a small group sets out to look for the Dane party.
God is definitely working in Emmy’s life and through this trial she’s beginning to see how. Emmy can see that she is just beginning to understand His ways. Diego has always looked to the Lord for guidance and now more than ever he needs His leading. But this isn’t over yet. . .
Will Emmy and Diego be able to trust Him to direct them to the right path to find her family? Will they be able to trust each other and their feelings to set things right?
Emmy’s Equal is a story of strong characters. Emmy is strong-willed yet will touch your heart as she realized that God is working with her. Diego has a heart that is as big as Texas. Marcia Gruver has written all her characters with strong individuality yet with the ability to look to God and see His workings in their lives.
The last of the Texas Fortune series, Emmy’s Equal will keep you turning the pages to see how these strong Texans will overcome the adversities that come their way. I would have liked to have seen a little more of an Epilogue but even so this series is one to enjoy.
