Dear Readers:

Karen White has always been the master of dramatic fiction. Her stories are always a mix of romance, friendship, family quandaries, as well as finding faith in yourself and others. This new offering is certainly no exception.

In this story we meet Cassie Madison. Cassie reminds me of many women, including myself, who were born in a very small town where absolutely EVERYONE knew everything you thought, did, spoke, etc. Your classmates long remember every "trick" you played on teachers, friends, or family members; and, above all, they ALWAYS remember your most embarrassing moments. A long time ago - fifteen years, to be exact - Cassie fled her small town because of a very embarrassing moment for her, when her beloved sister ended up with Cassie's boyfriend. She was so angry at all her family, she packed up and headed for New York City. I mean, what better place is there to become lost and forgotten?

New York was a wonderful experience for Cassie. She is now the partner in a huge advertising agency, has a wonderful Upper West Side apartment, and lives and works with the man of her dreams. She barely even thinks about her sister and her old flame who still live in Walton, GA with their five children. Yeah...right. Unfortunately, one evening she's awoken in the middle of the night by a telephone call. Her estranged sister is letting her know that their father is dying. He's had a heart attack and the doctor doesn't hold much hope for his recovery. And all Dad wants is for his two girls to be by his side. Cassie feels so many emotions about this that she can barely breathe, but certainly wants to honor the father she dearly loves. Jumping in the car, she races away from the big city and her fiancé, and heads for...home.

As she pulls into the small town, the gas gauge is pretty much as low as it can go; and, when she pulls in to the small service station, she's met with an extremely handsome man who wants nothing more than to help her. In fact, he says he knows her. The man's name is Sam - a boy from her past that went to school with Cassie who is now referred to as...Doctor. Cassie tries not to laugh, considering he's in the middle of nowhere. What she doesn't expect is that this old country doctor is actually a professional who received his degree from the Ivy League and just decided that Walton, Georgia was his home and that's where he belonged.

Ms. White takes us on a journey through old friends, old times, old memories, and a family who truly loves each other with all their hearts - they just need to find a way to forget the past, live in the present, and pray for the future that they all rightly deserve. The drama is palpable, and any reader who is interested in a story of hope, love, and support - with all the requisite tears and sorrow - will be extremely excited to get this novel for Valentine’s Day, their birthday, or simply just because.

Until next time,
Amy
