An amazing writer who has created smart and very real characters.
Kendra Ballantyne, Esq. is a lawyer situated in Los Angeles and she is also a pet lover and sitter. Cats and dogs and sometimes guinea pigs are her passion and also, of course, Dante DeFrancisco, her significant other. But, forgetting the four-legged friends, the war between pet-lovers and pet-haters is not as sweet and lovable. Kendra is visiting a condo where her friend Wanda lives to take over Wanda's pet sitting duties while Wanda is out of town. The first person she runs into, literally is Margaret Shiler (a pet-hater) who is determined to ban pets from the building. She gets into an argument with Margaret over the anti-pet policy that Margaret is trying to put into effect. A week after this confrontation, Margaret turns up dead in her apartment and the only witness to this is a little yellow kitten named Lady Cuddles, who is always getting loose and running through the condos hallways. Kendra's friend Wanda is in the detective's sights as the culprit so Kendra, who is an amateur sleuth starts to investigate. She needs to clear Wanda's name.
Ms. Johnston has written several of the Kendra Ballantyne, Pet Sitter Mysteries and I hope she writes a lot more. I've only read one other called Howl Deadly and loved that one too. These books are very cleverly creative and a lot of fun to read. Mystery readers and animal lovers will like this series. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon.
