Textiles, renovating, faux finish and restoration was Avery Baker’s bread and butter. Investigating was an unpaid, not to mention dangerous, side job…

Under normal circumstances she and BF Derek had weeks, if not months, to complete their flip. What’s causing Avery to practically hyperventilate is a five-day deadline thanks to the TV show Flipped Out!. Being on an episode will be fun, but to have the cottage done in five days?

It might not matter, though.

Why you ask? Murder, my dearest reader. The victim? Tony, local newscaster extraordinaire--in his mind. Owner of the Flipped Out! flip. Oh, you should also know that Tony was Melissa’s fiancé, AKA Derek’s ex-wife. Turns out Tony also knew the director of Flipped Out! (seems Tony got around), Nina, who wasn’t all that thrilled to see him again.

Did someone take advantage of the crew’s arrival to put the screws to Tony? What secrets did Tony have buried in his deep dark closet? Was it a matter of jealousy? No, wait, could it be connected to…

It’s not going to matter what or who Tony’s murder is connected to if they couldn’t find a connection.

You’ll be glad to know Avery is doing her best to find a thread of evidence, no matter how thin, to find a connection or three. You see, in addition to many things, Avery is curious. Very curious and she’s just not going to be satisfied until she wraps this case up with no loose ends to be had.

Of course this means someone isn’t happy about her interference.

Well, she’s been in heated situations before when she’s gotten too close to the truth, but as I said, she’s curious.

I really like Avery. She’s smart, loyal, cute, and a bit jealous when it comes to Melissa, I believe I mentioned curious, and quite talented. Life around her is always in full swing.

When it comes to a crime committed on or near her territory/property, Avery’s investigative mind continuously churns out off-the-wall and probable scenarios faster than Sherlock Holmes and Jessica Fletcher put together.

Jennie Bentley has gotten quite adept at keeping the reader on their collective toes as well as providing terrific entertainment. What a fab way of de-stressing from life’s potholes.

Happy reading!
Connie
