Hi Readers,

A very readable mystery story with an extremely strong main character; Jolene Asdale is determined to make her automobile showroom the best of the best. She has inherited this business from her father and is trying to make a go of it. She is a very able woman attempting to run a business in a male-dominated field.

Jolene's dreams really get shot down when she is showing a shiny Ferrari to a customer and when she opens the door a body rolls out onto the showroom floor. First on the scene is Deputy Ray Parker, who happens to be Jolene's almost ex-husband. The victim is a man she sometimes dated and her nosy neighbor saw her having an argument with him in the recent past. So, Jolene becomes the first suspect. Ray eventually finds bunches of cash in Jolene's apartment and thinks that Jolene is plotting something with her fugitive sister, Ray is convinced that Jolene is guilty. Facing a bankruptcy, a conviction for murder and a divorce from a man she still loves, she will do whatever it takes to solve this crime and exonerate herself. Unfortunately, she is racing into the path of the real killer.

This book is a debut mystery and the author has left a lot of openings for more in the series. All the characters are very believeable. Jolene's relationships with her family and friends ring true even though somewhat disfunctional. She has a husband that she just can't bring herself to divorce; a very high maintenance sister who is bipolar and has recently walked away from a mental ward, a very funny, gay mechanic and various and sundry friends, enemies and one very unsavory person who is trying to frame her for murder. I recommend this book to all mystery readers. A very good story that will not disappoint you. This book is called a Broken Vow Mystery and I can't wait for the next one.
