This is the second book in the Broken Vows Mysteries. The first being one called For Better, For Murder. This is a very promising series and I look forward to more. The characters are interesting and very complex and I'm sure that you readers will enjoy knowing them.
The main characters are Jolene Parker and her husband Ray who is a police officer and their foster child Noelle. This little family are very happy in their love for each other and their new baby. Noelle, is a sweet child whose birth parents are on the run. These two are bank robbers and fugitives from justice who lived in the same town but high-tailed it out when the police got too close to them. Jolene and Ray want to make their parenthood permanent but, the adoption comes to a screeching halt when it is found that the birth mother's name traces back to a girl who is dead. Jolene and Ray hurry to find the true identity of the birth mother and they discover an unsolved murder and they also learn that their new family might be in danger.
This is a charming story and almost a cozy but not quite. It is set in the Finger Lakes area of New York State which is very beautiful and also it is during the Christmas season. It is a fun read with a lot of twists that will keep you up late reading. You will identify with Jolene and Ray and their plight to keep this little girl. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon.
