She’s a spy for the Crown and she’s very good at what she does. You see, Meredith Sinclair not only has what it takes to be a spy for Lady M (she’s female, has status with the ton, and is a widow) she likes being a spy. So who better to extract sensitive information from traitors?

This next case though gets a little sticky. Things like emotions and feelings get in the way when she’s appointed to investigate one time childhood friend, Lord Carmichael, Tristan Archer. It’s obvious he’s dealing with a nefarious man, and it’s up to Meredith to uncover Tristan’s part in the dealings against the Crown. With the help of her sister spies, she tries to discover information that would point the finger in another direction, she tries to extract secrets from various sources, she tries not to fall in love.

It’s a race against time and her heart to get to the bottom of who has the stolen painting that had critical information stored in it. And unfortunately it’s looking like Tristan is involved up to his neck in traitorous activities.

Tristan, like Meredith, has been through much loss. And it’s that loss that brought him to the edge where he’s at now, to toss in with Augustine Devlin, a man of low repute. But he’s losing his ability to stay sharp. Meredith is asking questions. Meredith is seeking out Devlin. Meredith has a hold on his heart.

Will this end with hearts and lives intact?

The characters and their motivations are richly fleshed out and portrayed in this fast paced story of love and loyalty. Ms. Petersen taps into the various emotions and moments in their lives showing us what makes both Tristan and Meredith tick.

I had a difficult time rating this review, so in reference to the rating and comment of "see below"...

For all the romance readers who love a good spy story you truly won’t be disappointed. I, however, normally avoid spy plotlines, but my love for Scandalous had me eager to read Ms. Petersen’s second release.

And I’m glad I did. Personal tastes aside, I did find emotions, intrigue, romance, and matters of to trust or not to trust woven to a fine balance. I wound up rooting for Tristan and Meredith, hoping they would find a way out of the treacherous waters they were wading in. Enough so that I’m looking forward to the next in the trilogy to see what kind of trouble Meredith’s sister spies, Emily and Anastasia, get in to or try to prevent.

All in all, From London With Love is an enjoyable, well-written story.
