Mark King, along with his father and brother, is a successful bounty hunter living in Los Angeles. After working some long and tiring cases, Mark has decided to take some well deserved time off. He decides to go to a ski lodge in Colorado and check out the locals and meets the woman of his dreams. Her name is London Brooke and she just happens to work the front desk at the ski lodge. Mark pulls out the famous King charm to hopefully convince her to help him enjoy his time in Colorado. Of course London is not easily swayed and Mark finds that he has to work extra hard to get beneath Brooke’s hard exterior. What Mark doesn’t know is that London’s past is about to catch up with her and threaten what they have together.
London thought she had left her past behind her. She has a wonderful job at a ski lodge and has built a life for herself in the mountains of Colorado. After meeting Mark King, she thinks she may even be able to add finding a great guy on her list of accomplishments. Then the strange packages start arriving. Pictures of her parents being taken away in handcuffs start arriving and London doesn’t know what to make of them. London has to decide if she can trust Mark enough to tell him what’s going on.
London decides she can trust Mark and tells him about the pictures and together they start unraveling the mystery behind her parents and how it ties into her. The pair find themselves in a dangerous game the deeper they get involved. London and Mark hope that luck is on their side before they become the latest victims in this dangerous game.
This is Lorie O’Clare’s second entry in her bounty hunters series and is just as explosive as the first. Right from the beginning it is a non-stop, action packed thrill ride. Mark just thinks he can lose himself in Colorado on some much deserved vacation time only to find himself embroiled in another mystery. The chemistry between Mark and London is scorching from the second they meet. London doesn’t want to be the damsel in distress but can’t help but let Mark be the hero. She finds she’s in way over her head and accepts that he can help her. I may not have picked this book up, but I am so glad I had the chance to read it. Ms. O’Clare certainly has a way of catching readers and keeping them hooked until the very end. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
