Dear Readers:

In this wonderful new series, we are introduced to Dana Hathaway. Dana is a sixteen-year-old girl who has had enough. Her mother is a roaring alcoholic who shows up – at the beginning of our story – to a school function. Dana is getting ready to sing when her mother stumbles in and completely embarrasses her in front of the whole school. Dana is so tired of this scene. Her mother has been whisking her across the country from place to place since she was a little girl, telling her all the time that Dana’s father – if he finds them – could hurt them. So as soon as Dana feels settled, she is uprooted and moved to the next place by her frightened mother.

One evening, while her mother is in a talkative stupor, Dana gets the information out of her regarding her father’s name and address. That night, leaving a note behind, she runs away, boards a plane, and finds herself crossing the gates into the magical world of Avalon (a location that everyone knows about where certain magical movies are shot.)

The first person Dana meets is Grace; a hard-nosed, slightly angry woman who is a guard at the airport. She whisks Dana off to ask her some questions and soon tells her that she is the sister of Dana’s father – Seamus Stuart. Now, Seamus is very "high-up" in the magical world’s political realm, and Aunt Grace wants to protect Dana from any harm that his political foes could do to her.

Out of the woodwork, characters begin to appear from all sides of the kingdom. Based on The War of the Roses, there are two magical warring factions: The Seelie Court – whose members are always adorned with the White Rose of York; and the Unseelie Court, whose members don the Red Rose of the Lancaster’s, and are comprised of evil creatures and things that go bump in the night. Two of the members of the Red Rose team are Ethan and his sister Kimber, who befriend Dana and try to save her life from the other beings who want to kidnap her in order to have the upper-hand over her politically-motivated father.

This outstanding adventure story is a roller-coaster ride of characters. In fact, the story never stops; as soon as a reader identifies a good guy – they turn bad – and vice versa. The only thing the reader will know for certain is that Dana is a very powerful girl all by herself. She is a Faeriewalker – and the last one of her kind. She is half human and half Fae. She can walk through both worlds at any time through the Glimmerglass, making her the one person that everyone wants on their side.

Book II comes out in 2011 and I can’t wait to read it!

Until next time, Amy
