All Lois wanted was to start her second year in Green off on a good note. But that just wasn't in the cards. First Chuck and Dub, who used to own The Green News-Item, shows up at her door wanting to buy the paper back. Then Mayor Eva shows up with her dog, Sugar Marie, who ends up biting Lois on the face when Dub accidentally scares her. Though you would think that is the worst thing that could happen, it isn't. Eva convinces Lois to go see Kevin, Lois's best friend and doctor. After getting her face looked at and stitched up, they are on their way out the door when Eva's phone rings. That is when Lois gets the devastating news that the Green News-Item is on fire.

That is only the beginning of the book. Throughout the whole book, poor Lois is fighting fires and Chuck and Dub. I am so glad that Judy Christie wrote Lois with a lot of heart and fight in her. Everything that goes wrong in this book would have a lesser woman running for cover or jumping from a bridge…but not Lois. In fact, she even tackles another challenge through all of this dating her neighbor Chris Craig.

I could not be happier that in the end of this book Lois and Craig work out and for the very best. Chris is a widower and in this book he has decided he is ready to move on and he wants Lois to be a part of that. I don't want to give too much away on their relationship because to me anyway it is some of the best parts of the book.

In this book you have quite a bit going on but its done in such a way you don't lose track of what is happening to whom and what the outcome may turn out to be. What I will tell you is that everything at the end does work out for the best. You just have to read to find out how and what leads everything to work out the way it does.

Oh and on a very good note there is one more book in this series, Glory to Green, is due to come out this month. I, for one, cannot wait to read it!
