Grace, who has inherited her momís home, is an Assistant Curator at Marshfield Manor. While visitors are at the Manor, a man disrupts an important function, but everyone soon realizes that the man was just a diversion. While the man was running through the mansion, somebody was murdering the curator, a man named Abe, a good friend of Bennett Marshfield, the millionaire owner of the mansion.
Grace assumes the role of curator and also that of "detective" while trying to figure out if the man who was murdered was killed by accident, the real victim was supposed to be Bennett. Grace soon learns that Bennett had been receiving threats.
Grace with the help of the cute groundskeeper Jack Embers work to protect Marshfield Manor and its owner. Grace is a fun "detective" and she has a good relationship with her roommates. She works hard to get to the bottom of the murder which seems to involve greedy relatives and secret assignments. Grace is a persistent investigator, as she feels that the police are working way to slow for her liking.
Grace and Jake have the makings of a possible romance and I look forward to something more concrete developing between them in future books. The author uses some estate information ( room layouts) to help the reader visualize where the action takes place.
