Anna Rostoff is descended from Russian royalty and even has a palace to her name in Russia. However, that isn’t as grand as it seems. She is in hiding at the palace along with her sister and infant son. There is no electricity or heat in the palace and it is falling down around them. There is no money for food and she is constantly afraid that her son’s father will show up.

One day that fear came true. Nikos Stavrakis is not a man to be trifled with. He has shown up and he wants his son back. If he has to take the mother of his child to accomplish this feat, he is more than willing to do so. He takes both back to the U.S. and begins his mission to keep them by his side forever.

While Anna is staying because of her son, she is also there because she still loves this man. What can she do to make him see that she can be so much more? They can be so much more?

I truly enjoyed the interaction between this two very strong willed people. Nikos is the stereotypical Greek man and he wants so badly to protect and take care of his family. Anna is a very proud Russian who wants to take care of herself. Deep inside though, they both want the same thing – to love and be loved. There are a number of obstacles in their way including their emotions. Another one is family issues and a man lurking in the shadows by the name of Victor. I don’t want to give anything away but Victor has his own plan which is very different from either Anna’s or Nikos’s. However, this plan also creates just the right amount of twists at the end.

From what I understand this is the author’s first published work in the United States and I gotta say it was a winner. The characters had some depth to them and there are situations and intrigue enough to keep the reader looking forward to the next page.
